This conservation reserve covers 1990ha (4917 acres) of crown land near Torrance and is officially recognized as a Dark Sky Reserve for its lack of light pollution. Featuring ancient rock outcrops, rare plants and wildlife, and serene wilderness, Torrance Barrens is a great place for budding astronomers to observe a pristine, star-filled night sky, and for outdoor lovers to explore the many hiking trails. Blueberry picking is popular in summer and snowmobile trails run through the reserve in winter.
